Create short explanatory videos for unique teacher professional development initiatives. The videos needed to generate excitement amongst the faculty and help establish credibility for the programs. The audience for these videos included board members, K-12 faculty, as well as prospective teachers at St. Michaels University School (SMUS). Aldridge Street was hired to build these stories in both 2012 (The Learning Institute) and 2014 (Harvard Instructional Rounds).
In our pre-production meetings, the stakeholders agreed that it was important to interview the teachers who were involved in the pro-d. Each interviewee was eager to report on how the training informed their practice and their unique perspectives became the basis for the videos. Once we had those shot, it was a matter of shooting the interactive, colourful classes and meetings that served to explain what they talked about.
Several of the teachers who saw the Learning Institute videos signed up on the spot for the following year. The program was re-funded and has now been going for several years. Feedback from the Harvard Rounds videos indicated that we clarified and explained in excellent detail without being too long-winded. This program was also re-funded and continues to this day.
